GLUTEN-FREE SPOTLIGHT: CHEF ANTHONY RUSSO’S PIZZA

March 18, 2015

By Lena Burkut – Way 2 Good Life

Our Friday tradition is a pizza night. Great end of the working week is to share a big pizza with the family (or a few small ones). Recently, we started baking two small ones instead of one big one – kids always want cheese and the adults in my house prefer something more fun. Besides that, I hate the thought of missing every pizza night because of my gluten sensitivity.

Solution: Chef Anthony Russo’s Gluten Free Pizza.

The Russo family opened “Russo’s Italian Restaurant” in 1978, after moving from New York to Texas. Russo’s Italian Restaurant was a fine dining establishment that featured Russo family recipes passed down through generations, updated with a modern sensibility. The New York Pizzeria concept was introduced in 1992 in the Houston market in an area where most customers were from New York City, so they truly appreciated the New York pizza style, giant slices, and calzones in Texas. Anthony also quickly gained recognition for his fresh Italian food and his affordable prices. Today Russo’s has over 30 locations, from Hawaii to Dubai.

A classic style pizza made with olive oil garlic sauce, fresh roma tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and Italian seasoning.

UNCURED PEPPERONI

Yes, it is gluten free – with a thin crunchy crust and a great variety of toppings! I personally loved Chicken Rustica, Greek, and Margherita – I never had feta cheese on my pizza before and it is absolutely out of this world. Tomatoes came out perfect on every pizza we tried.

If you like different meats on your pizza – you have to try Mulberry with Italian sausage, spicy pepperoni, Canadian bacon crumbled hamburger.
